Halloween is a great time to explore your creativity!
Now, honestly, I’m not a fan of Halloween in general because I am without a doubt scared of EVERYTHING. Movies… theme parks… haunted houses. NO WAY! But somehow I still figure out a way to get into the spirit of Halloween every year! I’ve done a few exciting costumes over the past few years that I’ve loved… and they all have most recently been Comic Book Themed. And this Halloween I realized… I’ve never actually purchased a full on costume. I’ve crafted my own every year and plan to keep the tradition going!

And to keep with the Comic Theme… I present…
Lichtenstein Pop Art!
It seems tedious… And I guess it was. But the outfit overall only cost me about $20.00. The wig being $11.00 of it. The cool thing with this costume is that anything you wear on your body can be created. It’s art!
I painted an old button up shirt of my boyfriends and paired it with a black skirt and turquoise tights. Easy shoes and the rest fell into place!
Now the shirt- I painted it with acrylic paint and a textile medium you can snatch up pretty easily at Michaels or your local craft store. I cut off the sleeves and opted to wear a black long sleeve shirt underneath.
Me with Bryce as Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games and Tosha as Daenerys Targaryen from Game of Thrones
The Pop Art Style is all about solid bright colors. Thick black lines. Dots to match, but really no rhyme or reason. (Well at least the mocking style I accomplished!)
Used regular Halloween Creme Face-paint from Target ($2.00 for both the black and the red), a simple paint brush (The handle side for the dots! You don’t want them TOO big!), and a splash of red lipstick!
How about you? Going as anything Artsy this Halloween?

Was it hard to keep from inadvertently touching your face? Apparently ppl do that more than they realize and I mess up my make up a lot like that. LOL
Haha yeah at first it was. But then I kinda got used to it. My only problem was getting to warm in the costume! With the wig and the leggings my body had no room to breath! So my biggest fear was that all my dots would melt together!
Great work – very creative!
Cool face art!
I love it! I am sure it was a lot of work, but boy the end result was soooo worth it! Way to go!
