As you have read in previous posts I hate running. I hate running SO much I’m trying anything and everything to enjoy it. I’m even doing it WHILE playing a Zombie game. And I must admit, this is the most fun I’ve had running in forever.
But I don’t want to get burnt out of the whole working out thing. In the past I have been a rockstar the first couple days then slacking one day, then the next thing I know I’m a couch potato again. But here’s my plan. I’m okay with being a couch potato in the evening as long as if in the morning I get up early and do something active! I’m focusing on running right now, but my overall goal is to switch it up every other day so I don’t get bored!
Swimming, Biking, Running
That’s where I’m starting.
Day 1: 1.5 Miles. I’m trying not to over do it. I haven’t ran in a long time, so I wanted to make sure I started out not only at a good pace but at a good distance! I read an article about running some, fast pace walking some, just to get your body used to the whole activity. I set a goal… There’s a lot of speed bumps in my neighborhood, so I speed walk to one, then run to the next, etc. On the street that doesn’t have speed bumps I’ve been setting my eye on a telephone pole or something and run to it! Then walk then run… yadda yadda.
Day 2: 1.5 Miles. SORE AS CRAP! Who knew you used your flubber muscles when running? Every single part of my body is sore. Look, I know I’m out of shape, like seriously out of shape, but jeez louise I had no idea how sore I would be. Day 2 I felt like I could go farther while running. I’m not sure if this is just in my head or not, but I’m going to take it and RUN! I collected a lot more items too from my Zombie game. Which, I will admit, I’m really excited to plug into the game tonight after work! So far so good… just have to keep moving!
Day 3: BIKED! Took a break from running because I really thought I was going to die. Muscles super super sore… figured, let’s give them some time to chillax a bit. Instead I laced my shoes and went for a light bike ride. I didn’t try to do anything too strenuous, just enough to make sure I was moving! It felt good and I found biking was easier than what I remembered!
Day 4: SWIMMING! Sunday was a good swim day! I spent a half hour in the pool doing various pool exercises. Funnily enough my pool is surrounded by apartments, so I’m sure my neighbors were wondering what the heck I was doing flailing around like a beached fish. Not whale, fish. It was fun though. It always feels like you’re not really exercise when you’re surrounded by water. Maybe it’s the not feeling the sweat heat and desire to pass out? Either way, I love swimming so this was an A+ idea for exercise!
BREAK! Giving my body a complete rest. Plus I got home, thinking I was going to break. And I sort of did. BUT my boyfriend had downloaded a super groovy game for the Kinect for me, ready? GREASE DANCE! Just like the movie! They show you the dance moves, you match them and get points!. This was a fun side activity! I want to run mornings pre-work, so if I run tonight then it’s not a good idea to run tomorrow morning! It’s okay. I’ll see you at 6:00AM Zombies & Shoes.
Day 6: 1.5 Miles. I’m not sore today… yet (I’m sure). I got up early and Zombied it up again. I was very surprised at how much farther I could run! Now when I say the word run, take it lightly. I’m not sprinting by any means, but a jog is definitely happening. Today I might have pushed too hard at first, and wore myself out by the end. But I still collected a good chunk of Zombie Supplies! Didn’t eaten today either! So I guess that’s a good thing!
Day 7: 1.5 Miles. Ahh! So pumped right now! I think this is the first time I’ve actually made it through an ENTIRE week of working out! Week one down, ready for week two! Baby steps right? Today my run went well. I noticed I was powering through longer and my walking was limited. It felt good when I was done and my face was literally dripping with sweat. My legs are a little sore today, but nothing like Day 2. It’s getting to be easier, although every morning when I wake up 2 minutes before my alarm I will admit, I do contemplate sleeping in that extra hour. Every morning. BUT NO! That’s what my day off is for!
