but I want to LOVE it!!!
A co-worker and I were discussing how jealous we are that some folks LOVE to RUN. I want to love to run.
This run hatred has been long going for me. In middle school I used make myself actually sick when I knew in PE I’d have to run the, dum dum dum dum, THE MILE!!! I was the girl in the nurses office at 8am when I knew at 12pm I would have to be circling around a track at too slow of a pace where my friends would pass by me at least once in the 4 laps. I think my best time was um, 12 Min 30 seconds. That’s because I spent most of my time walking.
So, is there any hope for me in learning how to run? And most importantly learning how to love it?! There are so many benefits of it, I want to be in the cool run-lovers club. Now… how in the heck am I supposed to do it if I hate hate hate hate hate it?!
I’ve been looking for ideas to make this task a little bit easier. I enjoy a good zombie story and I enjoy games. There is an app that is going to combine these two things that I enjoy with something that I hate! And I’m hoping that maybe, JUST MAYBE, I will learn to love running! The App is called Zombies RUN! The goal is to run a certain distance each time to acquire materials to protect your zombie safe zone. During your run the app will tell you when to speed up, when to slow down, etc. I’ve been told by a fellow friend, she feels like a crazy person running because she feels like there are zombies actually chasing her! Crazy right?!
Benefits of running that makes me think I can do this!
1. Get into shape! Build confidence and overall self esteem!
2. Cheap form of working out. No gym membership. No fancy tools needed!
3. Reduces the risk of bad health stuff (heart attacks, blood clots, stroke, breast cancer, colon cancer…….)
4. Relieves stress
5. You get to listen to music while doing it! OR Zombies!!!
It’s just getting past the first 30 days right? Isn’t that the toughest? No clue, but I wanna get this runner high everyone talks about. Then won’t I love it?
The App is $7.00 for an Android Phone. (Yes I haven’t converted to my fruit like technology yet, but I will soon!)
Running shoes on, headphones set, I’m ready! Bring it on Zombies!

Runner’s high is the greatest high.
I LOVE this app. I think it’s great and it makes me actually miss running if I don’t do it at least once a week! Enjoy!
I think some people just love doing it and some don’t. It really depends on how you feel once you start doing it. I enjoy running and do it 4-5 times a week (I’m also training for my first marathon in October). I recently ran a half marathon and did pretty well with it. Don’t get me wrong, there are times during my long runs when I find myself asking why I’m doing it, but then I finish the run and I have my answer. Because it makes me feel good knowing that I did it. The distance doesn’t really matter as much as the fact that you did it! But I will say this, good music, a good pair of running shoes, and proper hydration will help you like your runs more than if you don’t have those three things.
Good luck!
I think a big problem for a lot of beginning runners is they try to do too much too fast… So of course it’s miserable!! Experienced runners are miserable if they increase their difficulty level too quickly. There are a lot of great training schedules out there to help newbies… Google couch to 5k if you’re curious. Good luck!
Thanks! I’ve been trying to keep it at a good level. Not trying to do too much too quickly!
It seems to be working! Thanks for the advice! I’ll check it out!
I love running what better way to get me running longer and faster than a bunch of zombies chasing me!
